Alarming Figures of People Now Use E-Cigarettes, Warns Global Health Authority
More than 100 million users, including at bare minimum 15 million minors, currently use e-cigarettes, propelling a recent surge of nicotine dependency, per recent worldwide health data.
Minors are, typically, nine times more likely than adults to engage in vaping, based on current global figures.
E-cigarettes are fueling a "new wave" of nicotine addiction, stated a leading health representative. "These devices are advertised as harm reduction but, actually, are ensnaring kids on nicotine sooner and risk weakening generations of progress."
Young People Being 'Targeted'
"Numerous of citizens are quitting, or not taking up tobacco usage because of tobacco restriction initiatives by countries throughout the world," the representative stated.
"As an answer to this significant advancement, the tobacco sector is pushing back with novel nicotine items, aggressively targeting adolescents. Authorities must respond quicker and more forcefully in enacting tested tobacco-control policies," the official added.
The vaping numbers are a projection since some states - 109 in all, and numerous in Africa and Southeast Asia - lack data.
Based on the study, as of recent February this period, at least 86 million e-cigarette consumers were adults, mostly in wealthy states.
And at bare minimum 15 million teenagers between the ages of 13 and 15 already engage in vaping, per research from 123 states.
Even though many nations have tried to introduce e-cigarette policies to address child vaping in recent years, by the conclusion of 2024, 62 nations yet had no regulation in operation, and 74 states had no minimum age at which e-cigarettes may be purchased, says the medical organization.
Simultaneously, tobacco usage has been decreasing - from an projected 1.38 billion consumers in 2000 to 1.2 billion in 2024.

Experts claim vaping is significantly less harmful than cigarettes, and can aid you stop smoking. It is discouraged for those who don't smoke.
E-cigarettes do not burn tobacco and do not produce black substance or CO, a pair of the most harmful elements in tobacco fumes. They have nicotine, which may be dependency-creating.
