Eulogies Pour In for Rob and Michele Reiner as Medical Examiner's Findings Are Sealed.
More than two weeks subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of celebrated film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones continue to honor the couple.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Sharing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, stated he finally felt ready to post publicly about his deep grief.
"Sufficient time has gone by that I can at last articulate my loss into words," wrote Elwes, saying that his introductory moment with Reiner left him smitten. "As we began spending more time together I knew this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor posted behind-the-scenes footage from the production, commenting that he could not remember "one day without joy".
"This story is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Principles that Rob held dear. Which is among the many reasons he was the perfect person to guide it," Elwes expressed.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, noting: "Claiming that they were a great team would be an understatement. My heart still aches every time I think of you." He ended with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Colleague and Comrade
In a separate piece, revered director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the lead role.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked wonderfully with his co-stars, and he understood the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Sealed
This week, a Los Angeles judge ruled to prevent the publication of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, following a petition from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A legal directive placed a security hold on the cases to prohibit the public release of "related notes, documents, files or images" associated with the ongoing investigation.
The coroner's office had already determined their deaths were the outcome of murder, with a official listing citing the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
Aftermath and Reactions
After the killings, public figures offered divergent reactions.
Ex-President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, making divisive claims that were met with immediate backlash by numerous individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his voice to the critics last week. Conversing on his show, Rogan labeled the comments as "disappointing" and suggested they showed a concerning absence of compassion.
Rogan concluded by remarking that an adviser ought to have acted when the choice to speak on the passing was made.
